Paul Grewal

Paul Grewal
CEO & Founder

Paul started his career in technology with stints in software development, immunology, research, and sales. Prior to founding Sage in 2009, Paul ran global recruiting teams for AKQA, Crispin Porter+Bogusky, and Robert Half Technology. At Robert Half, he managed the largest technology recruiting division in San Francisco. At Sage, Paul developed an efficient recruiting model and methodology to better align incentives for candidates and employers alike, helping make Sage one of the most value-driven recruiting firms in San Francisco, the US, and Europe. Paul holds a master’s degree in organizational development from the University of San Francisco, and a bachelor’s degree in economics with a concentration in computer science from the University of California at San Diego. He also has certifications in executive coaching and yoga.

Smita Rode

Smita joined Sage in 2016 after a 15-year stint in technology and corporate communications, where she worked for global and midsize PR firms, including Weber Shandwick, Burson Marsteller, and others, in both Silicon Valley and NYC. She’s worked on communications strategy for clients such as Qualcomm, Symantec, Microsoft and many others. At Sage, Smita oversees operations and finance, and also serves as the lead recruiter for communications and PR clients. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics with a minor in psychology from the University of California at Irvine.

Kenneth Xu

Kenneth joined Sage in October 2020 upon its acquisition of Nexus Partners which he founded in 2016 as a Bay Area/Shanghai-based boutique executive search and technical recruitment firm, providing strategic cross-board talent acquisition and leadership advisory solutions to its clients in technology, life sciences, automobile and other industries across US and Asia. Kenneth brings with him an ideal background to serve Sage’s global recruiting efforts. He previously was on the pioneering team to build the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), the leading international business school in Asia and ranked top 25 worldwide. He also has over 18 years of executive search experience working for firms like Russell Reynolds, Korn Ferry, DHR and others in the Asia region. Most recently, Kenneth has played pivotal roles in building up several hot startups in SaaS, health tech and data infra, leading the talent acquisition function and recruiting strategic business and technology talents, while taking other leadership roles. Kenneth holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from SISU and MBA from CEIBS. Kenneth is an avid practitioner of the martial art of Tai Chi.

Ted Hazelrig

Ted joined Sage in 2020 to support its mission of helping teams lead through the crisis. At Sage, he advises on data collection and analysis, drawing from his years of research experience in the field of translational biomedicine. He holds a Ph.D. in Immunology from Stanford School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tufts University.

Jorge Suarez

Jorge Suarez is a human resource, strategy management, and executive coach who has worked in multiple disciplines and industries. A native of Monterrey, Mexico, Jorge received both a Bachelor of Management and Human Resources and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from EGADE Graduate School of Management and Leadership from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM) in Monterrey, Mexico. Prior to joining Sage Talent, Jorge held a variety of international operations, consulting, strategic planning, and human resources positions in agriculture, high technology, call center management, and fashion industries with companies such as Wonderful Orchards, Earthbound Farm, Ocean Mist Farms, Gloss.com - an affiliate of The Estee Lauder Companies, SBC Communications, Innovations PSI, Zacson Corporation, and Del Puerto Export, LTD.
